There are many advantages to using our canvas hunting blind/ice fishing shelter as opposed to a nylon one.
The insulating properties of canvas will keep you warm and comfortable with just a small heater. We field tested one last fall with the outside temperature -12 and found it was actually too hot inside the blind with the heater set on high but on low the temp was much better at +12.
We recommend keeping fresh air circulating inside the tent by opening one side of each clear vinyl window about 12” by peeling back one side off the Velcro and then reattaching (see pic below). Doing this also provides a shooting window in all 4 directions.
The dimensions are 5’ x 5’ with a 6’ peak so plenty of room for 1 or 2 people. There’s no need to worry about snow load due to the sturdy aluminum frame. There is a single zipper entrance door as well as a zippered window on the opposite end (see pics below).
If you’re rattling whitetails quietly open the window to do your rattling. If you’re in a situation where you can’t take the frame you can also it set up with cut poles (see pic below).
Options include camo netting (see picture below) and canvas privacy window covers if the blind is used as an outhouse or shower.
One of the advantages of introducing new products is doing the field testing. We had this nice whitetail come in to our rattling last fall (see picture below). We had 5 bucks come in over a few days and none of them were scared of the blind. The white canvas blended in well with the snowy landscape.
Always make sure the canvas is dry before storing it and it will last for many years.
